I’m dying to tell you about this melting chocolate ball recipe that is ah-mazing! When I heard about these mystery chocolate balls, I immediately thought of hot chocolate bombs. You can take hot cocoa balls to a whole new level of deliciousness with this tasty recipe.

Melting Chocolate Balls Recipe
This magic chocolate ball dessert is one of my favorite yummy recipes for chocolate lovers. You’ll never get bored making this magical dessert because it’s so much fun to make for kids and adults alike. A brownie tower topped with chocolate balls, ice cream, and berries would be heavenly. This dessert is further enhanced with a drizzle of warm chocolate sauce or fudge.
Ingredients
- 8 oz milk chocolate, in chips or chopped
- 2 Brownies, prepared according to your preference
- ½ cup strawberries, per serving
- ½ cup walnuts (optional)
- Ice cream, for serving
- 8 oz of chopped dark chocolate
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ tsp. coconut oil
SUBSTITUTION AND ADDITIONS
Mixed Berries: Alternatively, you can use raspberries and blackberries instead of fresh or thawed strawberries.
Mini Marshmallows: Also, mini marshmallows are a nice addition during the holiday season. The brownies taste great with chocolate chips on top and a scoop of ice cream on top.
Directions
STEP 1: Place your chopped milk chocolate into a glass bowl and melt it in the microwave, stirring every 20 seconds until it is smooth. When melting the sphere mixture, add half a teaspoon of coconut oil. By doing so, it spreads more evenly, is easier to use, and has a shinier finish.
STEP 2: Using a lightly oiled paper towel, coat the inside of the fillable ornament. I recommend using a silicone mold or chocolate mold if you don’t have an ornament to make chocolate shells.
STEP 3: One of the halves of the chocolate sphere should be filled with chocolate. Make sure all surfaces of the ornament are evenly coated with chocolate by closing it and rotating the ball. If any empty spaces are visible, I tap them gently to remove them.
STEP 4: The ball should be placed in the freezer for two minutes, then flipped. Every few minutes, flip it a second or third time.
STEP 5: Take the ornament out of the freezer and carefully remove the ball. Make sure you work quickly and avoid touching the ball for too long with your warm hands. If you do that, it will be melty, gooey, and messy.
STEP 6: A flat-bottomed bowl can be dipped or run in boiling water and completely dried afterwards. Placing one side of the frozen chocolate ball on the bowl after it has been inverted onto a flat surface is the next step. As a result, the top of the ball will be removed, ready to be filled with deliciousness later on. The ball should be placed back in the freezer.
STEP 7: Here’s the best part, get ready! Stack two brownies on top of each other and decorate with sliced strawberries and marshmallows if desired. Once that is done, carefully place the chocolate ball on top.
STEP 8: In the last step, microwave the dark chocolate with heavy cream for 20 seconds at a time and drizzle the sauce over the ball in a circular motion.
Melting Chocolate Tip!
It is important not to cover a microwave-safe bowl when melting chocolate. Condensation may occur.

Whenever I need round molds or a big mold for these delicious recipes, I check Hobby Lobby. The materials I needed to make hot chocolate balls last year were a piping bag, excess chocolate, a small bowl, and the amount of chocolate to make this amazing dessert.
At the grocery store, I also found a bit of chocolate that I am surprised didn’t melt because it didn’t feel like room temperature. It felt like a double boiler in that store. I also found an entire bowl of sweets that put much pressure on me not to eat, lol.
